A publicly traded China-based global crop protection company.

Crop protection products manufactured by the company’s fully-owned Israeli subsidiary Adama Makhteshim have been used in agricultural experiments conducted by settler research institutes in the Jordan Valley, occupied West Bank and the occupied Syrian Golan.

In November 2016, as part of a conference and tour organized by the Jordan Valley R&D Center, a company representative presented research on the toxicity of its Nimitz nematicide product tested in Jordan Valley settlements.

The company’s products were also used in agricultural experiments conducted by the same R&D Center in 2017-2018 and 2015-2016, taking place in Tomer settlement and the R&D Center’s facility in the Jordan Valley respectively.

In 2013, the company took part in an agricultural experiment conducted by the Institute for the Study of the Golan at the University of Haifa’s campus in Katzrin in the occupied Syrian Golan.

In 2018-2019, the company participated in an agricultural experiment on colomerus vitis in vines funded by the Ministry of Agriculture’s Extension Service. The experiment took place in four sites, two of which located in the settlements of Mevo Hama and Merom Golan in the occupied Syrian Golan.

In 2020, the company’s fungicide Cidely Top was used in an agricultural experiment in a vineyard in Tell Farass in the occupied Syrian Golan. Also in 2020, company products were used in apricot groves in the southern Golan.

The company employs regional representatives for the Jordan Valley and the Syrian Golan, and has authorized distributors in the settlements of Avnei Eitan in the Syrian Golan and Tomer in the Jordan Valley.Adama partnered with Tactical Robotics, a subsidiary of Urban Aeronautics, in a joint feasibility study for adapting the Cormorant, a multi-role, high payload, unmanned Vertical-Take-Off-and-Landing (VTOL) aircraft developed for military use, for aerial spraying. The Cormorant was developed in collaboration with the Israeli military’s medical corps. In May 2018, Tactical Robotics performed a first “mission representative” demonstration to the Israeli military, described by the company as its “lead customer”. In July 2020, Tactical Robotics reported that the ag-cormorant was undergoing initial spraying tests in collaboration with Adama.



Ownership

The company’s ultimate controlling shareholder is Sinochem Holdings, which holds 78.47% of the company’s shares through Syngenta Group. Sinochem Holdings is owned by the Chinese government.
