Through its website, Booking.com promotes properties located on occupied Palestinian and Syrian land. Properties in Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank are listed as located either in Israel or in “Palestinian Territory - Israeli settlement,” while those located in occupied East Jerusalem and Syrian Golan are listed exclusively as located in Israel, misinforming consumers that book short term or long-term rentals. In all cases, Booking.com failed to inform consumers of the settlements’ illegal status under international law and their location on occupied land.
The company’s website offers properties in 17 settlements in the occupied West Bank.
In the settlements of Geva Binyamin and Yitav, properties were found listed as located in Israel. Properties in additional 15 Israeli settlements and outposts in the occupied West Bank were listed as located in "Palestnian Territory, Israeli Settlement". These include the settlements of Kfar Eldad, Ariel, Ma'ale Adumim, Shadmot Mehola, Hashmona'im, Mitzpe Shalem, Tekoa, Neve Daniel, Ovnat, Kalia, Almog, Vered Yeriho , Kfar Adumim, and Giva'at Ze'ev. Property was also found in Givat Harel, an illegal Israeli outpost which is built on mostly private Palestinian land.
Listings were also found in the settlements of Pisgat Ze’ev, Ramat Eshkol, Ramat Shlomo and the French Hill in occupied East Jerusalem, all of which were mislabeled “Israel.”
Properties were also found in 29 settlements in the occupied Syrian Golan including Neve Ativ, Odem, El-Rum, Bruchim Qela' Alon, Sha'al, Merom Golan, Ein Zivan, Alonei Habashan, Katzrin, Yonatan, Keshet, Ani'am, Had Nes, Tel Kazir, HaOn, Afik, Giv'at Yo'av, Eli Ad, Avnei Eitan, Moshav Ramot, Natur, Ma'ale Gamla, Hamat Gader, Neot Golan, Bnei Yehuda, Haspin, Nov, Kidmat Tzvi and Ortal.
