This company feature introduces IBM, one of the biggest technology companies in the world, and its current significant involvements in Israeli security and military apparatus, mainly by facilitating Israel’s pervasive surveillance of occupied populations. Through its two fully owned Israeli subsidiaries, IBM is complicit in Israel’s Military-Industrial Complex, and in providing services, equipment and technology to Israeli settlements and Israel Police.

The events of May - June 2021 in Palestine represent the ongoing reality of Israel’s violent repression of the Palestinian people, and their resistance to it. This form of repression described in this update is carried out with the help of Israeli and multinational companies manufacturing crowd control weapons, which reap enormous profits from their complicity with Israel's attack on Palestinian life and basic rights. In the update, Who Profits profiles three of these companies—Combined Systems Inc. (SCI), Ordortec, and Ruger - who supply Israel's security apparatus with weapons such as tear gas, rubber bullets and so-called skunk water.

Top Sky Line is a private Israeli company that is generating profits from enhancing Israel’s highly repressive security apparatus. The company is a supplier of security services to the Israeli Prison Services (IPS), where Palestinian political prisoners are incarcerated. It also provides services to settlers in occupied Jerusalem through contracts with the Israeli Ministry of Construction and Housing (MOCH), and to settlements in the occupied West Bank. In addition, the company holds a multitude of contracts with the Israeli Police.

This update exposes corporate complicity in the new shopping complex “Design City” opened in July 2021, and built in the Mishor Adumim settlement IZ, located within the municipal boundaries of the Ma’ale Adumim settlement in the occupied West Bank. Design City amplifies the role of private companies in implementing Israeli political policies to entrench and normalize control of occupied land, bringing to life the complete integration and connectivity between Israeli-constructed residential and commercial areas on both sides of the Green Line at the direct expense of Palestinian dispossession and fragmentation.

In this update, Who Profits sheds light on the new developments concerning HPE's involvement in the Israeli occupation. Our findings reveal that the Aviv system is being phased out and replaced with a different system developed by the American public company IBM. However, HPE remains involved in the occupation through contracts with the Israeli Police and Israeli Prison Service.

On this interactive map, Who Profits highlights several ongoing developmental and military projects in their various stages of implementation, illustrating how Israel’s long-standing policies to Judaize and industrialize serve to dispossess the Naqab’s Palestinian Bedouin inhabitants. Click here to see the full map  

Netafim positions itself as a global leader in sustainable agriculture, while in reality, the company profits from Israel’s ongoing occupation. Through the provision of irrigation technologies and know-how to illegal Israeli agricultural settlements, the company enhances the structures of land grab and de-development of Palestinian and Syrian lands. In addition, Netafim generates profits from the commercialization of military knowledge developed in the context of the Israeli occupation.
