Full Text

Syensqo is a publicly traded Belgian multinational that produces advanced materials such as specialty polymers and composite materials. Syensqo was created in December 2023 through a spin-off from the Solvay Group, which holds 0.91% of the company's shares.

Syensqo supplies composite materials for the manufacture of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) used by the Israeli military in the occupied West Bank and Gaza.

The company supplies the MTM 46 epoxy prepreg system to Elbit Systems' Hermes 450 and Hermes 650 Spark UAVs, both used by the Israeli military. The MTM46 is a toughened epoxy resin used for the manufacture of aircraft structures, and in particular for UAVs.

This model of UAV has been linked to the killing of civilians in Gaza including seven international aid workers.

In January 2025, it was reported that cargo documents exposed at least ten export deliveries sent between November 2023 and March 2024 from Syensqo’s facility in Wrexham, UK, to an address in Israel corresponding to Elbit Systems’ fully owned subsidiary, Cyclone Ltd.

Hermes 450

The Hermes 450 is a multi-role high-performance tactical attack UAV manufactured by Elbit Systems, which is extensively used by the Israeli military.

The Hermes 450, also known as "Zik", has been widely used by the Israeli Air Force in the occupied West Bank and in attacks on Gaza.

In February 2025, the Israeli military carried out an airstrike in Rafah in Southern Gaza using Hermes 450, in violation of the ceasefire at the time. Between October 2023 and May 2025, about 20% of targeted killings carried out by the Israeli military in Gaza were carried out using Elbit’s Hermes 450. On April 2, 2024, an Elbit Hermes 450 attacked an aid convoy in the Deir al-Balah area of Gaza, killing seven World Central Kitchen aid workers, according to Campaign Against Arms Trade.

Hermes 450 UAVs are also extensively used by the Israeli military in the occupied West Bank for intelligence gathering and air strikes with increasing frequency since October 2023. On 27 March 2024, an Elbit Hermes 450 UAV participated in an airstrike on Jenin Refugee Camp in the occupied West Bank. Between October 2023 and January 2024, the Israeli military carried out at least 40 airstrikes in the occupied West Bank, 38 of which were carried out by Hermes 450. The airstrikes took place in the Jenin Refugee Camp, in the Nur a-Shams Camp east of Tulkarm, in the Tulkarm Camp, and in the Balata Camp in Nablus.

The Hermes 650 Spark is a digital UAV with artificial intelligence capabilities manufactured by Elbit Systems. In January 2025, The aircraft has been integrated into the Israeli military and is expected to get its own squadron. The Hermes 650 is capable of staying in the air for 24 hours, at a range of 300 km, and carrying a payload of 260 kg.
