MDT Armor is an American provider of armored vehicles for military, law enforcement and civilian use.

MDT Armor is a key supplier of ultra-light armored military vehicles to the Israeli military. The company manufactures the “David” military ultra-light armored personnel carrier.

“David” Armored Vehicle

MDT’s “David” is an armored light all-terrain vehicle based on the Toyota Land Cruiser and the Toyota Hilux. 

The “David” is an armored light all-terrain vehicle based on the Toyota Land Cruiser and the Toyota Hilux. The David is the most common armored reconnaissance, command and patrol vehicle in the Israeli military and serves as a critical component of the Israeli military's operational capabilities. The vehicle has a roof turret with a manual or remote weapons station option and has gun ports in all 4 directions. The vehicle is widely used by fighters in all sectors, mainly in the occupied West Bank and surrounding the besieged Gaza. It has also been used by the Israeli Border Police in occupied East Jerusalem. MDT is the sole supplier of the David vehicle, and it is marketed as battle-proven for its use by the Israeli military.

Contracts with the Israeli Ministry of Defense 

In January 2026, the Israeli Ministry of Defense (IMOD) marked the receipt of the 1,000th "David" armored vehicle, manufactured by MDT Armor in the United States. 

In April 2025, MDT Armor was awarded a USD 15.4 million contract from the U.S. Army to supply approximately 100 armored vehicles and related parts to the Israeli military. 

In April 2023, MDT Armor was awarded a USD 22 million contract to manufacture and supply David armored vehicles to the Israeli military. Deliveries were scheduled to be completed by the end of September 2025. 

In July 2021, MDT Armor was awarded a USD 10 million sole supplier contract to manufacture and supply 65–70 David vehicles to the Israeli military. The contract was issued by the U.S. Department of Defense and funded through the U.S. Foreign Military Sales program. 

Gaza Genocide 

On October 19, 2023, the Israeli Ministry of Defense received an initial shipment of MDT Armor David 4×4 light armored vehicles designated for use by the Israeli military. The vehicles were supplied to replace vehicles damaged during the Israeli military invasion of Gaza the same month.

West Bank 

The David vehicle is often used by Israeli forces in the occupied West Bank. 

In August 2026, Israeli military David vehicles were documented in a raid by Israeli forces on the Qalandiya refugee camp in the occupied West Bank. 

In January 2025, Israeli military forces in an armored David vehicle invaded the Palestinian town of Tammun, northeast of Nablus, in the occupied West Bank.

In December 2024, Israeli military forces in a David vehicle entered the city of Tulkarm.

In 2023, the David was documented in Israeli military raids in Tulkarm Refugee Camp and the city of Nablus in the occupied West Bank.

On November 14, 2023, a video published by the Palestine Red Crescent documented two Israeli military David armored vehicles blocking an ambulance carrying an injured person in the Tulkarm Refugee Camp in the occupied West Bank. 

On May 11, 2022, Al Jazeera reporter Shireen Abu Akleh was shot dead by the Israeli military in Jenin while reporting a military raid on the nearby refugee camp. Shots fired directly at a group of journalists from a gun port of a David vehicle hit Shireen Abu Akleh in the head, fatally wounding her.
