Land Rover Defender fitted vehicles are widely used by the Israeli military and Border Police. The ‘David’ armored vehicles, based on a Land Rover Defender 110 (4×4) chassis, are used by the Israeli military in the occupied Palestinian territory for patrol, reconnaissance and combat.
The Land Rover Defender is the most operational patrol vehicle in the Israeli military. MDT Armor, an American subsidiary of Israeli company Shladot, armors the vehicles.
Through its Israeli distributor – Eastern Automobile Marketing, Land Rover supplies armored vehicles to the Israeli ministry of defense.
In 2021, MDT Armor, announced it would supply the Israeli Military with about 70 David urban light armored vehicles for US$ 9.98 million by October 2022. The project is budgeted through the U.S. foreign military sales program. The Israeli military has 370 David vehicles in its service. The model in use by the Israeli army is built on top of a Land Rover Defender 110 4×4 chassis, and a 122 bhp, 2.5L turbocharged diesel engine.
In 2021, the Israeli Ministry of Defense published a tender for the acquisition of spare parts for Land Rover vehicle.
In 2014, Israeli military vehicle with Land Rover logo was documented in Khirbet Umm al Ammad in the occupied West Bank.
In 2014, David Vehicles carrying tear Gas launchers on their roofs were used during demonstrations in the village of Nabi Saleh in the occupied West Bank.
