Military Vehicles
The “David” is an armored light all-terrain vehicle based on the Toyota Land Cruiser and the Toyota Hilux, manufactured by MDT Armor.
The David is the most widely used armored vehicle in the Israeli military, used for reconnaissance, command and patrol. It is used by the Israeli military in all sectors, mainly in the occupied West Bank and around the besieged Gaza area. The vehicle serves as a critical component of the Israeli military's operational capabilities. The David is also used by the Israeli Border Police in the occupied West Bank and the Jerusalem area.
The David vehicle has a roof turret designed for a manual or remote weapons station option and has gun ports in all 4 directions. The vehicle is marketed as battle-proven, having been used by the Israeli military. The vehicles have been serviced under a special arrangement at a number of Toyota garages in Israel.
In January 2026, the Israeli Ministry of Defense (IMOD) marked the receipt of the 1,000th "David" armored vehicle.
Gaza Genocide
In November 2023, amid the military invasion of Gaza, dozens of bulletproof ambulances based on the Toyota Land Cruiser 78 were delivered to the Israeli Ministry of Defense from the United States as part of an emergency purchase.
On October 19, 2023, the Israeli Ministry of Defense received an initial shipment of MDT Armor’s Toyota-based David 4×4 light armored vehicles designated for use by the Israeli military. The vehicles were supplied to replace vehicles damaged during the military invasion of Gaza the same month.
West Bank
The David vehicle is widely used by Israeli forces in the occupied West Bank.

On May 11, 2022, Al Jazeera reporter Shireen Abu Akleh was shot dead by the Israeli military in Jenin while reporting a military raid on the nearby refugee camp. Shots fired directly at a group of journalists from a gun port of a David vehicle hit Shireen Abu Akleh in the head, fatally wounding her.
In September 2021, Toyota’s official Israeli distributor, Union Motors, was awarded a tender to provide Toyota Helix 4X4 vehicles to the Mateh Binyamin settlement Regional Council.

The vehicles were developed based on the Toyota Hilux by the Israeli company Plasan Re’em. In December 2022, the Israel Police ordered 69 "Jackal" light armored vehicles developed based on the Toyota Hilux chassis to be delivered within two years and to enter service in 2023-2024. The Jackal armored vehicle is designed to carry 5 fighters, is shielded against small arms and stones and equipped with firing slots, a separate compartment for detainees and cargo compartments for fighters' equipment. In April 2024, the Israeli Border Police released a video of its new Jackal vehicle, designed for use in village areas and to enter alleys and buildings, and equipped with 360-degree cameras.

In December 2025, the Israel Police introduced new Toyota Corolla Cross police vehicles to its traffic fleet. The purchase was funded by a budget of NIS 50 million and included the purchase of dozens of vehicles.

In September 2022, the Israel Police contracted the Israeli company Palsan Ram to prototype Toyota civilian vehicles with bullet protection for NIS 840,000 by the end of November 2023.
In March 2022, the Israel Police contracted Union Industrial Vehicle Ltd., Toyota forklifts’ official distributor in Israel, to provide maintenance and repair of Toyota forklifts for NIS 90,000 until the end of 2024.
Naqab
On February 16, 2026, Israeli Police forces with a Police Toyota vehicle were documented shooting tear gas into an elementary school in the Palestinian Bedouin village of Tarabin in the Naqab in the middle of the school day.
