In November 2023, Mercedes supplied the Israeli military with 112 Mercedes Arcos heavy-duty tractor heads and 30 Mercedes Sprinter 4X4 ambulance vehicles.
Mercedes' exclusive Israeli importer, Colmobil, expedited the delivery of the tractor units purchased by the Ministry of Defense and airlifted dozens of Mercedes ambulances. The vehicles were delivered in an expedited process and for immediate operational use in light of the Israeli military invasion of Gaza.
The Mercedes Arcos heavy-duty trucks were intended for the purpose of transporting Israeli Merkava Mark 4 tanks to Gaza and to the northern border. The Merkava battle tanks, specifically the Merkava Mark 4, have been widely used by the Israeli military in Gaza during the Genocide. The tanks have also been used in Lebanon.
The Mercedes Sprinter 4X4 ambulance vehicles are manufactured in the US for the requirements of the Israeli military and the Medical Corps. The vehicles were sent via airlift as part of the US government's increased delivery of military equipment to Israel since October 2023.
In December 2022, Mercedes won two IMOD tenders to supply 460 tractor heads intended for transporting Merkava Mark 4 tanks, armored personnel carriers, bulldozers, and more at a cost of hundreds of millions of NIS. The purchase included Mercedes Arcos tractor heads in two versions for heavy transport of the Merkava Mark 4 tank fleet, and for medium-weight transport of armored personnel carriers, bulldozers and other cargo. The trucks are produced in accordance with the military’s requirements and purchased through Mercedes' Israeli importer, Colmobil.
In February 2018, Colmobil won the IMOD tender to supply the Israeli military with 90 new Mercedes Sprinter ambulance vehicles for an estimated amount of NIS 40 million. The purchase included the supply of 90 Mercedes Sprinter 519 4X4 model vehicles with a 163 hp engine and a total weight of 4.6 tons, with an option for 80 additional vehicles, and a three-year service and maintenance agreement. The supply was expected by the end of the year. The vehicles are fitted to the requirements of the military and have dual-wheel drive capable of traveling both in difficult terrain conditions and on roads.
