The company manufactures the HMMWV (military Hummer) off-road vehicle used by the Israeli army in the occupied West Bank. Among other military uses, these vehicles are used in creating temporary (“flying”) checkpoints and roadblocks.

The company is owned by MacAndrews and Forbes Holdings (Ronald O. Perelman) and the Renco Group (Ira Rennert).
The Hummer trademark name is owned by General Motors vehicles, and AM General manufactures the Hummer vehicles for General Motors.
